This has to be one of my most interesting and entertaining interviews I've had yet! Dr. Peter Rork Co-Founder, President, and Pilot for Dog Is My CoPilot is quite the character and has a lot of stories to tell! After the unfortunate passing of his wife, Peter made the switch from Orthopedic Surgeon, to a full time pilot - not for people but, for dogs escaping kill shelters.
Dog Is My CoPilot - who covers the Rocky Mountain and Pacific regions - has flown over five thousand dogs! These dogs and cats are moving from southern kill shelters, to northern shelters where the desire for an adoptable dog is much higher (Basically the U.S. southern states have an overstock of dogs and cats).
This is an amazing organization that fits a 100+ crates (tetris-style) into Peter's plane to give these dogs a better chance at a fur-ever home. Each dog cost about $45 to transport - please consider making a donation it's probably the cheapest flight you'll ever pay for!
